Περίληψη: The scope of this project, named Landslide Risk Management of Attica Region (DIAS), is to construct a uniform and updated database of slope failures that have taken place in the Attica Region (Greece), and compile a landslide inventory map for the development of raster cartographic products (such as those of hazard and risk maps) capable of supporting risk evaluation activities. These maps can be used by the Civil Protection Authority (C.P.A.) in conjunction with the Euro-codes 7 and 8 (geotechnical and seismic design of buildings) and the 2007/60/EC Flood Directive. They can help for the protection of urban and suburban areas as well as many critical infrastructure facilities in the administrative area of Attica, including the peninsula and its islands. Furthermore, since Greek C.P.A. has, recently, issued a new generic mitigation plan called “Dardanos” against floods damages and their resulting landslides, DIAS project can facilitate the role of Civil Protection Authorities, by providing inputs for prevention and preparedness (first phase of Civil Protection). In addition, DIAS can be a valuable tool for the successful cooperation among different stakeholders such as those of public authorities, researchers, planners, and decision makers regarding civil protection issues. In this paper, an updated landslide inventory map is presented, being the first step for the production of the upcoming landslide hazard and risk maps. DIAS products will contribute in communicating to the society the landslide risk, and increase the resilience.
